Can We Stop Crowning People Heroes In Death?

'Death is a necessary end that will come when it will come' - William Shakespeare. People have this unusual penchant of celebrating people once they are dead. Not like there is anything wrong with that but why fan the flames of love in death while you never really showed people an iota of care through their lifetimes? Does it really make any sense? Don't go making people heroes when they are dead while you never crowned them kings while they lived. Shortly before my dad's death, he came visiting me in school with so many goodies, when I say so many goodies, I mean  every word of it, they were much more than he ever brought before and what did I do next? President Buhari has come under huge criticisms yet from so many Nigerians both online and offline, this time with much more fire than he ever got for his apparently failed administration. A lot of people are breathing fire and brimstone following very sad photos and videos from the mass burial ceremony organized by the Benue State government for victims of the Fulani herdsmen New Year genocide. The incessant attacks meted out by the Fulani herdsmen are not only tragic but also sacrilegious and no longer deserve the calmness with which it is being treated. The day was declared a public holiday as offices, commercial banks, markets and schools were closed in the state capital in honour of the 73 victims. It should really call for a serious concern and actions from well-meaning people both within and outside the country who are touched by the disturbing memories of corpses littered all over the country.
