Donkey Years Later...

Image
It feels so good to activate my blog again after what seems like donkey years. What really happened? you may ask. Life happened! Not in a bad way, anyway—but you know what being an adult in Nigeria feels like, right? Well, let's just say that I AM BACK to my first love, and it feels so satisfying to return here to document my thoughts and journey—because girl, they are truly wild! So, what’s new? I gained experiences, upskilled, diversified, got married, and now I have a daughter who is the spitting image of me. Who would have thought a child could take after her mum in every way—including her dentition and the way she smiles? And oh! I gained the Midas touch too. Who knew that gold could taste like shawarma and puff puff which I now make effortlessly from the comfort of my home? Because, tell me, what is life without some spicy balls of puff puff? Just know that I’ve added a lot more to my life and grown into a better version of myself than I was five years ago.

October 20, 2020 - National Blood and Bullets Day

Image
We shall remind you at 61 how you turned a green and white flag into red and green with the blood of unarmed citizens. You blood sucking lots masked up in the name of leaders. We shall remind you monsters how you murdered the supposedly leaders of tomorrow. Simply because they were asking to be heard. Simply because they asked for a good country. We aren't even talking about 'better' because it has to be good before it becomes better. You killed innocent citizens simply because they demanded responsibility from a very irresponsible government. At this point, I honestly do not care. Nigeria needs help and the sooner we get it, the better. It's about time this country got shut down if these power-drunk octogenarians and septuagenarians won't let us thrive! My late grandmother's age mates are at the helms of affairs, leading people who are more enlightened than them in every damn area. I can't seem to stop the tears. A country whose president has kept mute am...

This Thing Called SCAM

Image
You see this thing called scam ehh, it stems from little, just like a tree then grows into a forest. I run a business concurrently with my 9-5 job, let's just say it is a side hustle since 2018. The kind of energy I put into the whole thing is draining sometimes. I took the pains to go to CAC in Abuja myself to register the business. Singlehandedly built a website for same business (I'm no Web developer but I did it). Meanwhile, my business page BeYOUnique Empire is verified on Google. Like, I have the blue tick to my business name on Google. I had to give this background for you to understand how serious I took this business. My schedule could get too busy  but I try as much not to let any part suffer. I think I deserve accolades and I'm tend to lose it when anyone feels otherwise. So, sometime last year, a lady came to me, made enquiries and in my bid to please this potential customer, I subsidised the delivery rate for her and I made her understand that. I was...

My Story: Who Is Chidinma Unigwe?

Image
Who you? Lol. This witicism hasn't ceased from making me laugh since I stumbled upon that hilarious video. I intentionally wrote that because I have a feeling that if you were brave enough to have clicked this, you are most likely in for a drama-laden piece. So welcome... Let's talk about me, highlighting key things you deserve to know about me. It became imperative to write this at this time not to praise myself for any feat(s) attained or exonerate myself from anything, but rather, to ramble on about the nothingness of my being. Usually, my pink factor is being funny but behind those funny acts is a very compassionate soul. I can't begin to list what I have and haven't done to show compassion though. I am very emotional by the way. Little things make me cry. My tears ducts are very close to my cheeks to let the salty  waters flow freely. Only close acquaintances know this.  I am an unapologetic  nwa afo Igbo and was named Chidinma and Chis...

Take Off The Mask And Be Yourself!

Image
Everyone has a demon they fight in the course of trying to make it through life. However, some people choose to mask up and rather die in silence. You know why?  Because they are scared of what people would say about them. You are broke but act rich because you don't want people to know you are really short of money and probably make a jest of you. Wait! Has it ever occurred to you that you might be scaring away potential helpers because of the facade you have built around you? Oh! You never really thought of that. Why try to impress people when you can live your life and make every step worth the while. I'm not suggesting that you should get a loud speaker and announce your issues. No way! It has almost never ended in praise especially in an era where social media has become the order of the day. During the days of our parents, a problem shared is half-solved (I'm not sure though), but these days, a problem shared is a subject of immediate discussion provided ...

She Is A Girl... And So What????

Image
She is a girl and so what? She deserves to live without all the restrictions the society places on her. No, she should not be made to think less of herself or live her life to please men. Often times, the society places too many rules on the girl child with little or no attention to their male counterparts. Little wonder the society is filled with badly behaved men. Once she is 18, she can't escape the 'when are you inviting us' question which all boils down to marriage expectations whether her dreams are as beautiful as a castle and her goals as big as an overfed elephant. She is expected to conduct herself in a manner that makes her 'likeable' and 'findable' by man, after all men are the 'finders' while women are the 'found' or the 'findees'. Hence, she should not talk loudly in public or wear clothes that are suggestive of a prostitute. She must have committed the greatest crime of all time if her panties mistakenly peep ...

Feminism: Is Gender Equality Even Possible?

Image
Feminism has become a household word in today’s world because of growing concerns about the inequality that lingers across genders. We live in a society where a gender(male) is seen superior to the other (female), perhaps because they have the tendencies of growing muscles and beards. But women also have tendencies of growing their own stuff you know. For the benefit of those who are oblivious of the meaning of the overly used word, it “the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes”. The subject of feminism and all it entails usually irks sexists because it preaches contradicting trends to what they stand for. Personally, I think feminism is something that is worth discussing for days, sadly, a lot of people even the so-called feminists are even confused and usually throw caution to the wind so they wouldn’t be painted in a bad light especially in this clime where such people are branded ‘evil’ and all sorts. In fact, there is even Feminism Li...
